The TV is as advertised. The reception is not great with the included antenna, unless you are very near to the TV stations tower. You will need some sort of amplified antenna to get reception of the majority of channels. That puts a brake on the portability of the unit. Overall, I got what I expected. Cheap Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV

I bought this so I could have a "portable" digital TV, one that would pick up the new digital signals that replaced the analog signals [thus making my Casio 2-inch TV unusable.] I plugged in this TV, using the provided antenna, and scanned for channels. First try, got zero channels. Second try, shifted the attenna, got three channels. Then, I tried to view any of the three channels. All channels "failed to received broadcast." I tried another antenna and got four channels, different from the first three and got the same failure message. Out of frustration, I did what I was trying to avoid and attached my DTV converter box as the AV input. That worked. Problem is the TV is now attached to another plugged-in device, defeating the whole purpose of the portability I was seeking. So: Portable it is NOT!!!!!

Luckily, I got this for a low price so I'm not as mad as if I had paid the higher price. I'll probably use a cable splitter and attach a cable wire to this as an additional TV. buy haier hlt71

I bought this TV for my bedroom and so far, so good. It does the job for me: catching late night news. We do not have cable access in this room so this little TV accesses all our local channels. haier hlt71

We work in video production and have bought several of these. We've found it to be an excellent value for the price. We use it primarily as a video monitor, sending composite video and stereo audio in through the RCA jacks on the side. So far, this has proven to be a reliable, compact, and easy-to-use monitor. The mini-headphone jack serves just fine, and the picture is bright, fully color-saturated, and reasonably crisp. A bit pesky to have to use the remote to switch the image between "normal" and wide-screen, which it doesn't seem to sense automatically. And, of course, the small speakers are a bit crispy-sounding, but not bad for their limited size. Haven't used the built-in battery much, so I can't rate its life yet.
As a television, this model seems to pull in the local channels just fine with the included antenna. There are occasional dropouts, but I think that's more a function of the digital TV signal. I'm still surprised to get the digital tuner plus the actual television/monitor for not that much more than the digital tuners by themselves. Controls are simple enough that I bought one for my dear mother to use, and she's not exactly eager to deal with complicated devices.
Again, so far, we're very satisfied and will probably buy a couple more of these. buy haier hlt71
